PE004 - Cultured freshwater sand pearls, multi-strand choker

Carved mother of pearl clasp

i know this picture is so unclear, but believe it or not, it was taken without flash! that's how lustrous these pearls are, they really do shine.

Close up of the necklace. you can twist it more for a tigher choker and loosen it up by unwinding it a little.

Another close-up shot. Very beautiful pearls, aren't they?

30 strands of lustrous ivory sand pearls, twisted into a choker. The length of this choker is 16 in (or 40.64 cm) when the necklace is twisted.

The clasp of this choker is a flower pattern, carved from mother of pearl, and is set in filipino silver.

The pearls are really fine, each pearl only measuring between 1.5 to 2 mm. For every kilogram of sand pearls harvested, only 300 grams can be used as the pearls break very easily when holes are being drilled into them! This makes the pearls very expensive and rare.

This necklace is self-designed. All the pearls were hand-chosen by yours truly, and stranded together by a professional jeweller. It comes in a special jewellery case so you can protect this baby!

Even fake pearls don't go this small, and people usually use plastic beads if they wanted to make a twisted choker like this. You cannot find pearls like this anywhere in australia, not even if you went to Willie Creek Pearls!
